Using Yoast SEO for TYPO3 with EXT:news
More and more people are using Yoast SEO for TYPO3 and I am really proud of that. One of the most used extensions in TYPO3 is EXT:news by Georg Ringer. This extension makes it easy to show your news to your visitors. Because I got a lot of questions how to add the Yoast SEO analysis to EXT:news, I created an extension for that.
What does the extension Yoast SEO for TYPO3 - EXT:news do?
Well, that is quite easy. By default, Yoast SEO for TYPO3 only analyzes your normal pages. EXT:news is (most of the time) based on News records though. If you want to have your records being analyzed as well, you need to add a little configuration. The extension Yoast SEO for TYPO3 - EXT:news does this for you so you don't have to do anything yourself. After installing the extension, you will see that your news items will be analyzed as well and will give you feedback how to enhance your news item to get the best ranking in search engines.
Besides the analysis of the News records, you also have another feature from version 2.1.0 of Yoast SEO for TYPO3 - EXT:news. You can now also specify the title, description and image when your News item is shared on social media. Both Facebook (OG tags) and Twitter (Twitter cards) options are available on every news record as well.
How to install?
That’s quite easy. Just install the extension by composer or download the extension from the TYPO3 Extension Repository. After that, you only have to make sure you include the static templates of the extension and that you have configured a preview page for news records. When you have done this, you will find a tab Yoast SEO when you edit a news record.
As the extension is open source, I’m really grateful on patches and bug reports by other community members. So thanks for all your support.
This time I especially want to thank ICTI Internet Passion. They sponsored me to add the social media feature to Yoast SEO for TYPO3 - EXT:news. With this kind of sponsoring it makes it way easier to maintain open source extensions and to add new features. In the end everyone will benefit from this!
